Thankfully, there’s no need to panic if you do forget your Apple ID password, as it happens to all of us from time to time. When it happens to you, there are steps you can take to reset your Apple ID password, all of which are pretty straightforward. There’s no way for Apple to simply tell you what your current password is, though, not even through email. Instead, every method to deal with a forgotten Apple ID password or icloud password involves resetting it completely. Here’s how.

Once you get your Apple ID password reset, check out the seven things you can do to make your iPhone safer.

Reset your password using the Apple ID account page /Icloud password reset

Step 1: To start, go to appleid.apple id Password reset and click Forgot Apple ID or password in the center of the page.

Step 2: You’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll have to enter your Apple ID or the email address associated with the account. Click Continue, then select I need to reset my password.

Step 3: You’ll now be able to choose how you want to reset your password, whether it be through email or by answering a set of security questions. Which option you choose is really based on your personal preference.

Step 4: Choosing the email method prompts Apple to send instructions to the primary email address you used to begin this process, or a rescue email if you decided to make one. You’ll know the email has been sent when you see the “Email has been sent” page with a large, green check mark. If you can’t find the email, be sure to check your Spam, Junk, and Trash folders, or repeat the steps above to have the email sent again. Going with the security questions requires you to confirm your birthday and answer the aforementioned questions before you’re able to create a new password.

If you use two-factor authentication

If you set up and enabled two-factor authentication — which is different from two-step verification — resetting your password will be even easier, as you’ll be able to reset your password directly from your trusted iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or from the Apple ID account page. If you’re unsure if you have any trusted devices, don’t be; when you set up two-factor authentication, you created trusted devices. All iOS devices will also need to have a passcode enabled.

How to reset your Apple ID password

If you forget your Apple ID password, visit Apple's iForgot website and enter your Apple ID user_name.

If you haven't activated two-step verification then you'll be able to choose to reset your password by either responding to an email sent to the addresses you provided when you signed up for the Apple, or by providing answers to the three security questions you were asked when creating the Apple ID.

You'll also need to provide your date of birth when using the latter option.

the Icloud Password website lets you reset your password, or discover your Apple ID

When choosing the email reset option, note that you only have three hours to respond before the reset request is cancelled.

If you have two-step verification activated then you'll be prompted to enter the recovery key created during activation of two-step verification. Once you do, a verification code will subsequently be sent to one of your trusted devices, or texted to you. Without both this code you can't reset your password.

If you've lost your two-step verification code as well as forgetting your password then you're out of luck. Apple says the only way forward is to start from scratch with a new Apple ID. Even Apple's network is unable to verify a user's identity

  1. Open the web browser and go to appleid.apple.com.
  2. Click 'Reset your password'.
  3. Enter your Apple ID and click Next.
  4. Choose Email authentication or Answer Security Questions and click Next.
  5. Click Reset Password in the email, or enter the security questions.
  6. Enter a new password in the New Password and Confirm Password fields.
  7. Click Reset Password.

If you've forgotten what your Apple ID user_name is, there are a few ways to find out.

If you use your Apple ID when buying apps and music on your iPhone or iPad you'll find the details of your Apple ID in Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Your Apple ID can also be found in Settings > iCloud > Account.

Alternatively, visit the iForgot page and click the Forgot Your Apple ID? link. You'll then be prompted to provide your first and last_names, and the email address used for the account (as well as older email addresses also registered with your Apple ID, which can be useful if you're also unable to access your email). A password reset email will then be sent to the email addresses used for the account.

If two-factor verification is setup, you will again be prompted to enter the recovery key, as in the steps above describing forgetting your password. Once again, there is no way of bypassing this.

Apple id Disabled Fix

apple id disabled

If someone tries to h.a.c.k into your Apple account, entering your password incorrectly too many times, or giving the wrong answers to your security questions , Apple will recognise the attack and will lock your Apple ID & your apple id has been disabled.

This is good because it means an attacker can’t gain access to your Apple ID - which would let them get into your iCloud email, iMessages and FaceTime, as well as allow them spend your money on the App Store or in iTunes.

In this article we will explain how to unlock your Apple ID so you can use your Apple account and services again.

However, sometimes its not an attacker trying to h.a.c.k your account, sometimes it’s you getting yourself locked out of your account because you forget your password

Whatever the reason for Apple disabling your account, it is possible to get back in again, you just need to follow these steps to recover your account and create a new password.

  1. Go to iforgot.apple.com
  2. Enter your Apple ID - usually the email address associated with your Apple account.
  3. Enter the Code to prove you aren’t a robot.
  4. Click Continue

The next page will differ depending on the form of security you have set up for your Apple account.

If you have set up two-factor authentication you will receive a code on a trusted device or in a text message. You will need to enter this verification code before you can unlock your account and change your password.

If you use the older two-step verification you will need your recovery key that was sent to you when you set up two-step verification in addition to a code sent to a trusted device. If you don’t have the recovery key (which was a 14-digit code Apple would have sent you when you set it up) you might be a little stuck.

If you haven't set up either of these methods of security then you will either have to unlock your account using your password, or you will have to answer some security questions you will have told Apple the answers to at some point.

If you have forgotten your password (or if you are now feeling a bit cautious about whether your password is strong enough) you can change your password

You can find the steps to do so for all the term that require it.
